I use this product as I would any lush soap in the jars. Might sound strange. I like to get undressed. Slather this all over my dry body (don't do your feet as you could slip wait until you are in the shower for feet), really working the exfoliants with this one. Turn on my shower water. Wait until it gets warm. Hop into the dry area of my shower. Splash a little water on myself. Lather it up on my body. I have no issues with it lathering. I get a full creamy lather. My skin feels soft and smooth after, hydrated. I waste less water.

Side note: I buy most lush on-line. I usually buy these (in the tubs) to double as shower gel/shaving cream type things. This one has a manual exfoliant in it, not good for shaving with. However, I encourage you to try it before you shave. You will get the closest smoothest shave from using this before. If you are a bather, be sure to rinse it off in the shower first before shaving in the tub. The little beads will get stuck and ruin your razor blades.

Banana anything makes me want to buy it. Ive never loved a product(besides ocean salt) more then this! I will always keep this in my shower, and guest bathroom. All my friends wanted to try it as soon as I got it because it was such an interesting concept, and it impressed us all! Glowy, soft skin, with a subtle banana smell that is not too over powering, such a great summer smoothie to have!

Gumback Express is the first Lush product I ever used way back when. Now some 8 years later although my shower tastes have changed to prefer solid soaps rather than gels or creams this shower smoothie has remained a must in my beauty regime. Not only is the smell simultaneously invigorating and relaxing (an enigma I know!) but it also works to exfoliate areas that I normally do not pay attention to like chest, back and feet.

I bought the Gumback Express a few months ago on a whim not really expecting to like it. But I thought what the heck, I love the smell of banana and I hadn't tried any of the Lush shower smoothies before.

I am in love with this stuff. It doesn't have a horrible sickly sweet smell of bananas that I sort of expected. It genuinely smells of ripe banana and it wasn't even close to being overwhelming. But by far my favorite part of the Gumback Express is tiny bits of almond. They scrub and exfoliate your skin like no other.

The moment I got out of the shower the first time after using it, I wrapped up my wet hair and threw on a towel, turned on my laptop and bought 4 more pots. I'm terrified they're going to take it off the retro list and I'll be stuck without it again!

I really do love Gumback Express. I love the way it looks (like banana pulp), the way it smells (like yummy banana dessert), it cleans and moisturizes at the same time. I don't mind, that it doesn't lather all that much. I'm not much of a lather fanatic. Also this Smoothie peels your skin as you use it and I like this. But within this, lies also my one and only real complain, that isn't even the fault of the product: I hate how loose peeling bits feel on the palm of my hand as I apply them. It bothers me and therefor I will tend to stick with the exfoliating body butters or shower scrubs.
Other then that I would make this my permanent shower smoothie because I really adore this product.

I started using this product in '05 when I purchased some in UK. Then Lush quit making it and I've been begging for it to be re-released ever since. So happy to see it on your regular product list. Thanks for bringing it back.

One of the first things I did was to pour this into a clean Okra bottle. This made it much easier to apply!!!!!!!!!!!

The banana smell is fabulous. I think this product is the best exfoliant because it is sooo gentle. It feels creamy smooth and gently scrubby. You just have to try it !

[...]. -it was tricky to use mostly because of the pot-packaging; i placed the lid down, poured a bitinto my sponge, then had to wrangle the lid back onto the pot so it wouldn't take on water or tip over and empty. -once i had it sudsing in the sponge it was a lovely creamy wash with a light exfoliation for all over scrubbing. it worked nicely, cleaned well, and left my skin soft and moisturized enough that i didn't need lotion on the parts where i used it after my shower. i normally need dream cream on every inch of my body or i feel itchy from the dryness (love my hot showers). i only needed cream on my legs (which are worse for dryness than other parts). I am a fan. the scent smells of real fresh bananas, not a banana-candy type smell and it was not unpleasant, but also was not 'awesome' I will probably purchase this again in the future, but it's a luxury item in my collection so i dont expect it to run out any time soon.

I really like this product. It does a great job of moisturizing and buffing away any dry or rough areas.

The smell is nice, though I don't think it's a lot like Sympathy for the Skin.

As other reviewers have mentioned, Gumback does not have a sweet banana smell like you might expect, though it does smell like *real* bananas. It took me a couple of uses to really appreciate it. Nothing compares to the softness you get from the bananas and almond shells. It's best if you use your hands and scoop it onto your skin. I work from top to bottom, smoothing it on my chest and arms and move on to my tummy and legs. It also is helpful if you have a detachable shower head so that you can rinse the almond shells from your shower stall or bath tub - Gumback is rather messy. BUT it's totally worth it!

I love this smoothie! The smell was a little off, but I got used to it. Its fluffy and not as messy as I thought it would be. It exfoliates well but the one thing I absolutely LOVE about this product and the reason I will repurchase is that it makes my skin go for pale to glowy! It adds a healthy look to my skin and I love it.

I do with it lasted longer though :-( it is quite expensive.

I just got this in a UK order. It is wonderfully soft and fluffy. The ground almond makes for a "just right" exfoliation. The smell is light and sweet. It smells like real bananas, almond extract, and vanilla. Goes great with sympathy for the skin. Creates a moderate lather. Think of this like a skin treatment not a soap. This made me feel like I was at the spa! Ahhhhh

I love this soap, its not one of my Lush favorites but it is definitely up there. Its not a soap for special occasions its the perfect everyday soap that leaves your skin clean, baby soft and wonderfully exfoliated. My only problem is the smell, it does not invigorate the olfaction senses. Otherwise I think I will have this on hand as a mainstay and hope someone adds a bit of lushes scent to the item.

First of all I have to admit that I haven't ever used a smoothie before so maybe this is normal but... it's so runny. I dip my hand in and it gets everywhere. Then it drips off my hand and down the shower. Argh! Finally I get some on my body and... ok, that's good... smells great... works well to exfoliate. So that's nice, but it's so difficult to use - am I just doing something wrong?

the smell was weird. i know it's supposed to be "real" bananas so it is less sweet i guess. i dunno what it is, definitely weird smell! but on the flip side, it was MEGA MOISTURIZING! my skin feels very soft after i use this, so i gave it a 4 for that.

there might be something wrong with my batch. It smells a little like feet when I first get it out of the tub. The scent that lingers on the skin is more pleasant. Besides that this stuff is great. I am super exfoliated & moisturized.

Service and delivery comments:

My products always arrive in good condition, but Lush doesn't have a very good track record with being prompt. I hate that I have to pay $18 in shipping and my Lush does not arrive for three weeks.

This is a wonderful product. It exfoliates nicely and has a lovely, light scent. It leaves my skin nice and soft. My only complaint is the small size of the container, but all that means is that I have to buy it more regularly. I hope LUSH never discontinues this product - I love it!

I'm not big into body scrubs, but when I first saw this about a month ago on the site I was intrigued. The tub came in the mail and the first thing I did was unscrew the top. The smell was delectably light. I started using this as a facial scub instead of ABS and in just two days I saw an immediate improvement: soft, super dewy bright skin that glows.

This is the ultimate facial scrub.
(as for body use--i feel like these tiny little tubs are too precious to waste- I'll just have to buy another)

When I first got this in my very first Lush order, I was kind of dissappointed because of the very small size of the product for the very BIG price tag. Then I thought to myself, you get what you pay for and I tried it right away. Let me tell you , this is an Awesome product!!! I was never really keen on banana smells or food for that matter so I am really surprised that I like it sooo much. I also really like the packaging for it's actual plastic tub rather than some heavy cardboard covered with plastic containers that most companies use. I am on my way to stocking up on this stuff because I never want to run out!! Great job Lush-you guys ROCK!!:)

I have a skin condition called keratosis pilaris...and it's pretty severe. There are red bumps all over my legs and arms and this was the one thing to get control of that redness and make my skin so smooth. I used to use Dream Wash but then found this and LOVE IT. I love both but this one works better! Why did they ever discontinue it??? And this paired with the Dream Cream is a fabulous combination.
