Okay, so I do love this product. I just wish that Curly Wurly was a little bit more conditioning. I have fairly thin curly hair and when I first started using this product I found that it dried my hair out and that I was finding more hair in the drain than usual. However, it does leave my curls nice and springy! The smell is to die for. Just make sure to use a great conditioner after using this product, and you'll fall in love with curly wurly too. :)

I was recommended Curly Wurly for my straight-but-processed-to-heck bleached and dyed hair as a gentle shampoo that would counteract the dryness from processing and would be gentle on my semi-permanent weird colours. It is quite gentle and does not dry my hair out, however, it leaves my thick long hair completely covered in coconut flakes. I understand these flakes supposedly fall out easily during blow drying (which I assume also makes a giant mess), but I process my hair enough without the heat and don't want to add it to my routine.

The smell is overwhelmingly sweet. Cloying and migraine inducing coconut candy.

With regular (non-Lush) shampoos, my hair is dry, frizzy, and brittle. With Curly Wurly, my hair is stronger, shiny, and under control, even in wet weather. Finally having hair I can like - priceless!

The look of my hair went from zero to hero.
I tend to have very frizzy hair (it is naturally curly but shampoos make it frizzy, I don't understand why) and I decided to give Curly Wurly a try (I was hopeless and was pretty sure it wouldn't work).
I left my hair dry naturally and after like two hours, I went to check out my hair in the mirror and OMG I NOW HAVE THOSE BEAUTIFUL SOFT AND SHINY CURLS. I'm not even exagerating, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS.
I never EVER had those curls in years, I'm in CHOCK.
CURLY WURLY IS #1, I AM SO HAPPY. LUSH, I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU.

I have a love-hate relationship with Curly Wurly. My hair is short, curly, and pretty ordinary. But, since it can get very frizzy, I'm always looking for conditioning products. Enter Curly Wurly. Once you get past the learning curve for optimal use of this product, it's excellent. Unfortunately, that learning curve is pretty steep.

First, it smells incredible, both in the pot and in my hair. The coconut and vanilla smell sweet and clean. Its actual texture, though, is clumpy and waxy; scooping it out of the pot and getting it to lather is a bit of a pain. Even after adding water, it is hard to get the clump to break apart and lather without dropping a lot of it. With some care, I rub my hands together while continuing to add water until the lump of Curly Wurly gets to be the texture of a paste. I spread that paste through my hair, and if Curly Wurly was a conditioner, it would be just fine. But I need my shampoo to be slick and sudsy, otherwise it just sits in lumpy patches in my hair. With a little bit of practice and patience, I continue adding small amounts of water to my scalp to get the shampoo through my hair. As soon as I start scrubbing (running my fingers through my hair helps to accelerate the lather), my hair immediately feels thicker, healthier, and more voluminous. Fortunately, unlike other reviews, I don't have an issue with the coconut flakes. I don't care for them, especially because they contribute to the lumpy texture, but they always rinse out with the rest of the shampoo just fine. Finally, if you want your hair to be both clean AND soft, you might need to use a bit of conditioner even after Curly Wurly. Something thin like Veganese is perfectly sufficient.

Overall, this product is great as an occasional hair treatment. (Personally, I alternate Curly Wurly and Big.) It leaves my hair smooth, healthy, and does wonders against frizz. However, the process of actually USING Curly Wurly can be such a hassle that it sometimes just doesn't seem worth it. When I get it right, I like it quite a bit. I'm not sure if I'll buy it again, though.

I love this shampoo, It smells wonderful, not to strong, and the thickness of it feels amazing, like a hair mask! The ONLY thing I do not like about Curly Wurly is the mass amount of coconut chunks...they get stuck in your hair and its a pain to get out.

This shampoo has transformed my hair. I have very thick, very wavy hair that was very frizzy. Using this shampoo has made it softer, more manageable, and even less oily! I used to wash it every other day, and now I can go a full three days without having to wash and it still looks fresh.

The MAJOR KEY to having success with this shampoo is that you really have to work with it manually. Make sure your hair is completely soaking wet, and rub the shampoo between your hands to the get the lather started. You will need to vigorously rub it in, and use MORE water to get it to lather and distribute. This will fix the chunky coconut problem that others have.

Well worth the extra effort!

I was growing out my hair and it started to dry out. Curly Wurly leaves my hair well balanced, clean, and smelling good. I also noticed that my acne prone skin started clearing up. Apparently my skin is too sensitive for other shampoos which make my back and sides of my face break out. I have used this for over a year and will continue using it forever!! I love it! The only reason I give it 4/5 stars is because the coconut pieces are hard to get out of my hair; although they can brush out for the most part I have to dry my hair or comb it to get it completely out.

i use this on my (babyfine, straight, oily) hair and my sons (coarse, thick, large curls) hair and it works fine and smells great. it is not as moisturizing as i'd hoped, i still use a conditioner after (veganese).

I've been a LUSH addict for 7 years but I had never tried Curly Wurly until recently. My hair has a few natural curls but I don't consider it to be "curly." It does have a tendency to get frizzy sometimes after it dries if I don't use some gel or mousse. Curly Wurly is a wonderful experience! It smells so good I wanted to eat it! It lathers great, leaves your hair squeaky clean and smelling like heaven! I followed it with Veganese, my favorite, and the results could not have been better! My hair smelled absolutely fabulous for at least a day! I couldn't keep my nose out of it! And the SOFTNESS was unbelievable! I've never tried anything that remotely compares to it. My hair was soft as silk! I couldn't stop touching it! I didn't use any gel or mousse afterward and my hair didn't get frizzy at all like it usually does. It looked AMAZING! I got compliments on both the smell and the look! I've used BIG for years but Curly Wurly is my new must-have shampoo! I didn't have any problems whatsoever with coconut bits staying in my hair. I would recommend this product for anyone with any hair type! I absolutely LOVE IT and will use it always! :)

I am of mixed race and two months ago I cut off all of my chemically processed hair. A woman at the Lush on Newbury Street in Boston recommended that I try this on my very coarse and curly hair, and I've been using it along with the R&B leave-in. I really like the rich lather, and unlike other shampoos for coarse, dry hair I've used it feels like it rinses away cleanly. However, I just don't understand the decision to include chunks of coconut in a shampoo specifically for people with curly hair, because they don't rinse away on their own. Now that my hair is very short I can comb them out without too much difficulty, but I imagine that it would be a huge pain if it were longer. If this didn't have the coconut chunks, it would be my favorite shampoo. I'm definitely going to use all of the package that I have, but I don't know if I'll buy another one.

I got this with my Headcase Protect and Nourish kit and was really excited to try it. I have very thick very spirally curls and it is very hard to find shampoo and conditioners that help me tame the curls. I was hoping Curly Wurly would be it, when I first used it it was great, it lathered well, my hair felt moisturized after it and I was digging on it, I was even okay with the white bits that needed an extra washing to get out of my hair. However the longer I had it the less it worked, it pretty much stopped lathering and I was getting tired of having to wash it out again with a different shampoo because that just made my hair drier. I am not sure if I am going to re-buy it, I will wait until my rehab shampoo runs out to think about it.

It took me a while to try this, but I had tried literally everything (I'm talking about every shampoo from [...]) for my curly unmanagable hair. No matter what I would use, my hair would either feel dry or too greasy. This is actually really nicely balanced. It makes me hair soft but not flat and greasy. It didn't leave my hair dry. I may not use it daily as I could see that it may make my hair greasy if used everyday, but it's definitely wonderful for use a few times a week. The shampoo itself has a very interesting texture. If you have extremely thick and course hair, I can see the coconut pieces getting stuck in your hair. But those that didn't rinse out of mine were easily brushed out or fell out when I dried my hair and I have pretty curly but thin hair. I would buy this product again & again!

I LOVE this shampoo. The first time I tried it, I could tell right away that it made a difference in my hair. When I first emerged from the shower, my soaking wet hair still had a waviness to it - THAT'S how I knew.
Every time I use this shampoo it leaves my hair feeling/looking glorious. I love the smell, and I even like the coconut shavings in the shampoo. I tend to rub the bits that fall off all over my skin - which leaves me feeling soft as well. It doesn't weigh down my curls, and the smell stays with me for days.
It's a little hard to spread on my hair, but I don't have any trouble getting all the coconut shavings out. Basically, I don't think I could bother going with any other shampoo but this one. It makes me look forward to showers just as much as when I have something new from Lush to try.

First of all, I should start out with the scent. It's absolutely amazing and just knowing that coconut is going on my hair makes it more appealing because I know the benefits of coconuts. Although it doesn't lather up as good, I would recommend users to wet hair THOROUGHLY because it makes a BIG difference. Another con is that it goes down pretty quickly because of the amount you need to use for hair that is thick and long. But other than that, this product does it's job as promised and I would definitely buy it again because of it's moisturizing properties and great smelling scent.

I'm horrible to my hair. I started using this every other day and it turned my hair from a dry frizzy mess to beautiful curls. It also makes it so that for the rest of the day I have to resist telling people to smell my hair! Some people have mentioned the coconut bits. I actually haven't noticed that to be a problem. If you work it in your hands for about five seconds first the chunks tend to go away.

I received a 1.5 oz container of Curly Wurly as part of the Protect and Nourish Head Case; although I specifically bought the set in order to try out a couple of the other products, I'm glad that it introduced me to Curly Wurly. I was initially turned off by the coconut flakes in this product - and yes, you have to rinse your hair more thoroughly than you might normally to get them out, and they can clog the drain (in my new apartment, I have a mesh drain-cover, and that helps catch the coconut before it goes all the way down). Despite this, I was sufficiently pleased with the results of this product that I will probably buy it again. I have been using this with the American Cream conditioner, followed by my normal styling products (various brands), and on the days I use this my wavy/curly hair is especially soft and seems to frizz less, and my curls are particularly nicely defined. For those of us with difficult, frizz-prone hair, this hardly replaces post-wash styling products, but it does seem to work nicely with them. I would buy this in the future and recommend to others with hair similar to mine.
