Waylander Rhassoul

Made with Rhassoul mud from the Atlas Mountains - a traditional Moroccan skin and scalp treatment, this soap works marvels on troubled skin. Perfumed with earthy patchouli, each creamy bar contains pumice powder; after the Rhassoul mud cleans away dirt, use the ground pumice to slough away dead skin. Use it on feet, elbows and knees, all the tough bits. By the time you start up a new creamy, muddy bar, you'll find that your skin has already transformed itself magically from dull to bright.

I have ALWAYS loved this soap and hope beyond hope that LUSH will always keep this available. If you love patchouli and the sensual experience of very soft sand on your skin you will love "Waylander Rhassoul" (though this was not it's original LUSH name). This is a totally unique product! It's an absolute pleasure from start to finish. It's sexy to the core and one of the reasons I appreciate and stay loyal to LUSH.

I was recently introduced to Lush and so far, I adore almost everything, from the soaps to the shampoos to the face wash. And with the description about what this soap could do for my skin, I so wanted to love it. But the smell was just awful.

I thought it was bad dry, but when I got it wet, it made my body smell like I'd jumped into a campfire and then rolled around in burnt rubber.

To its credit, this did seem more moisturizing than some of Lush's other soaps. I'm not sure if it really does magically transform your skin, as the sample Lush sent me only lasted one use (unlike some others, which have lasted longer).

Lush, I love you, but this product was not for me.

Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I received this as a sample and recently tried it. The soap itself was softer than others I've had from Lush, you could pinch and pull off pieces, and it definitely disappeared quickly in the shower when the water hit it.

The smell was ... interesting. Definitely dirt/mud, but clean. I didn't like it, but at work, several people commented on the smell. Some didn't like it, others really liked it. One said it reminded her of fresh spring dirt ready to sprout dandelions. I'm not sure what that meant, but it seemed to come from a good place. I personally prefer a sweeter scent to my soap, but overall it was nice.

    Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

This one came as a sample and I was excited to try it for it's deep cleansing properties.
The scent was much too earthy for me, it literally smelled like mud, but I didn't care for it.
The texture was very smooshy and soft.
Left skin feeling moisturized, but I would't purchase it for myself.

I've used this soap since I found it many years ago in Amsterdam and carted it home several times by the pound (or kg if you prefer). It had a different name then, but no matter what it is called, it's the best face and body soap ever. I have never liked a strong pachouli smell, but this soap reminds me of an exotic far east kind of incense scent. I love showering right before bedtime and inhaling the slight residual fragrance on my skin before I drift off to sleep. I love using this on my face as it exfoliates very gently and makes my skin ultra smooth. Lush, rename it whatever you like, just never discontinue this gem ever again! :-) Just keep it out of the water as much as possible to make it last longer. I also love Uluru bath bombs because of their exotic fragrance as well.

I'm slightly disappointed on how soft it is and how it doesn't last long at all. Especially paying this much for this soap and only getting so little use out of it, it's irksome really!

Suggestion: Make it into a whipped cream soap in a tub. It'll be easier to use, probably be a lot more too.

Now that that is all said and done. I love the scent, very very earthy. It's also wonderful on the skin and would work wonders for the hair if it wasn't so creamy!

I received this as a sample when I made a purchase online. It does not really lather, and it has a very patchouli/woodsy scent which I found pleasant. It is a great exfoliating soap, and if you can let it sit on your skin out of direct water for about thirty seconds you can feel it start to firm up. During the summer I think it would be great, especially for people who are prone to less that perfect skin due to the heat. All in all, if you can get past the scent, its a great once or twice a week soap.

I am glad I got this as a small sample in my last order because I don't ever see myself buying this. It makes my skin soft and all but the smell is just horrible. At first it smells like a musty forest, then it turns into the smell of a stale campfire while you're washing with it. It also doesn't last long either, not that I wanted it to anyways. Sorry LUSH, this is awful.

      Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I got this soap as a sample in my last order and through the plastic wrap it smelled more like a men's item to me, so I gave it to my husband to try.

When first removed from the package it did have a very strong smell that I didn't like. I told him it smelled like a big clod of dirt. But, the scent it left on his skin afterward was not as strong and was actually nice. It lasted all day also. He said he got compliments on it all day and I'm here to buy him some now.

So I can see how some people might not like the scent, especially at first..and it's not for everyone, but if you're the kind of guy/girl that likes that type of earthy aroma, once you get past the initial slap in the face/nose smell of it, it does leave a nice scent on the skin.

      Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

Let's start with the scent of this soap - it is a strong smell, like a souk or some other exotic place. I love it, but understand that others may not feel the same way (there are other Lush products that I don't like the smell of, but others love; such is life).

This is a great soap for men or women. My guy uses it and he smells fantastic all day long. I work in public health so a strongly scented bath soap can be a real blessing at work sometimes, plus it makes me feel homey and happy to smell it in the middle of a stressful workday.

The drawbacks are that it doesn't last long in the shower, and the pumice part tends to be the last bit left, which is scratchy. I also find it drying, so I don't like to use it on my face. I wish they made this soap minus the pumice, maybe as a bath gel.

Mostly I'm grateful that this soap is back in production! It was gone for a while, and I bought some off of a seller on an auction site who was in the Philippines, it is that worth it to me.

I love everything about this soap. So much so that I'm adding a second review. What prompted me to write about it once more is all the compliments I receive. I use it in combination with Aromaco deodorant. The scents commingle to create a smoky, earthy and entirely fabulous fragrance that lasts all day. I used up my last bar months ago and am dying for my yearly Lush Gift Certificate so I can stock up. I use Waylander Rhassoul with "scrubby gloves" in the tub and get double the exfoliation in addition to enjoying the mysterious and addictive scent. It's one of the reasons Lush products are so unique.

      Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I'll admit, as someone on a budget, a soap made out of mud might not have been the smartest buy. My bar only lasted me a few showers, because... Wow. Water washes away mud. Brilliant thinking on my part.

That said, while disappointing as a long-term soap, I don't regret my purchase at all. My skin's prone to blackheads and bumps, and this soap really does make a difference. Although this melts way too fast to be a daily soap, it exfoliates, moisturizes, and makes my skin happy enough that I'll definitely picking more up as an occasional indulgence.

A word about the smell: I loved the patchouli and vetivert, but I can understand why other reviewers didn't. Imagine a dark, spooky forest after a good hard rain. Really imagine that smell: rich and earthy, all mud and moss and trees.

Now imagine the entire forest punching you in the face.

That's how intense the scent is, and yes, it lingers. If you like deep, woodsy, and completely unfluffy scents, this might just be your favorite thing in the world. If you're unsure, though, be warned: the scent's strong enough that if you don't love it, you're more than likely to really, really hate it.

I don't think I could possibly love this soap any more than I currently do! I remember first purchasing Waylander way back in the day when it used to be called Middle Earth turns to Rock. I can still recall the first time I encountered the amazing, earthy, sensuously spicy aroma of this mysteriously addictive soap. The rich and grounded perfume was so different from the various floral and gourmand scents available. I couldn't stop myself from purchasing it then, and I've been hooked ever since.

Fortunately, Waylander works as wonderfully as it smells. I find it to be an excellent soap for problem skin. It soothes, purifies, and moisturizes without leaving an oily or greasy residue that so many body washes and shower gels are notorious for. A good rinse removes any mess or grit that may have been left by the mud, and the pumice helps smooth out rough heels, knees, and elbows. I've noticed my skin become softer, smoother, and more blemish free since using this soap.

They have captured the essence of Dirt smell exactly. When it gets wet, it only gets worse. Think of wet, mossy, fungus ridden tree bark right at the base of the ground. It really smells bad on your body, should be left in the forest.

              Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I got this as a sample. The texture is great. It is really creamy. But I hate the smell of patchouli, so it's not for me. If you like earthy scents, then I suppose you will like this soap.
