Illipe butter

المكونات

Illipe butter

Shorea stenoptera

الفوائد

Natural

Illipe butter has been used for centuries to moisturise and to restore skin and hair’s vitality and elasticity. Containing oleic, palmitic, stearic and linoleic acid, it is similar in composition to shea butter but has a higher melting point, making it perfect for solid and naked products.

The illipe tree is native to Malaysia, typically found in Borneo. Regarded by some as the richest of all butters, illipe is made from the nuts of the Shorea stenoptera, a species of the Dipterocarpaceae plant family.

Lush uses nuts from Indonesia, which are collected from the forest floor and dried in the sun until the shells are brittle enough to be separated by hand. The nuts, which are 50% fat, are then processed in the Netherlands to extract their emollient butter.
