The bitter orange tree (<i>Citrus aurantium amara</i>) is an evergreen member of the Rutaceae plant family. Although its fruits are a little too bitter to be eaten raw, they can still bring a unique flavour to dishes, drinks and cocktails. The fragrant flowers of the tree are harvested to produce orange blossom water, <a href="https://www.lush.com/uk/en/i/neroli-oil">neroli oil</a> and <a href="https://www.lush.com/uk/en/i/orange-flower-absolute">orange flower absolute</a>. The tree is so full of essential oils that even the leaves and twigs can be distilled to obtain <a href="https://www.lush.com/uk/en/i/petitgrain-oil">petitgrain oils</a>.
