Also called External D&C Violet No. 2, this water-soluble pigment imparts a vibrant purple shade to cosmetics, even at very low concentrations.
Where do we get it?
Lush UK purchases this material from India.
With seven manufacturing sites across the globe, this information may vary depending on where your Lush products were made.
What are the benefits of this colour in product formulation?
- Gives a vibrant ‘ultra violet’ colour to product blends.
- Is very stable and only requires small quantities to work.
What are the effects of the colour 60730 on your hair?
This pigment helps remove brassy, ashy tones from blonde, grey and white hair. It doesn’t dye or damage the hair, it just sits slightly on the hair cuticles (so, on the outside). Building up gradually, the violet colour interacts with the yellow tones of fair hair by ‘cancelling’ them. This is because violet and yellow are opposites on the colour wheel and therefore mute each other out, at least to the human eye's perception. No purple, no yellow…just shiny hair!
Safety
This colour pigment has an excellent history of safe external use. However, Lush still wanted to do their own testing for extra carefulness so they asked XCellR8 to perform tests on the colour. This animal-free lab has worked with Lush for many years and uses innovative and relevant in vitro tests such as 3D skin models. Thanks to them, we are now fully confident of this pigment's safety.
