Carrot seed oil is obtained by steam distillation and has a sweet, carroty and earthy aroma.

Long, orange, mostly known for culinary purposes, the root vegetable is also cultivated for its seeds, which can be distilled to obtain a fragrant essential oil or cold-pressed to extract a moisturising and conditioning oil.

Lush buys the oil from different sources depending on availability, but it's always the French type, made from orange carrots and not the Indian type, made from red carrots.
