Oryza sativa Syrup

Deliciously sweet and lightly hydrating, rice syrup is an all too rare but precious ingredient in cosmetics.

In the food industry, rice syrup can be used as a sweetener - it is often added to rice milk for that purpose. In Lush cosmetics, it helps give our products a pleasant-to-apply, silky texture.

It is rich in minerals such as magnesium and potassium and mainly composed of two sugars, maltose and glucose, which are known for their humectant properties. Humectants are great for skin and hair care as they help retain moisture and, therefore, hydrate the skin.
