Glycerine is good, but yellow-tinted glycerine is even better! (Well, if you like yellow of course).

Where do we get these?

The glycerine purchased from our English and German manufacturing sites can come from different European suppliers, depending on availability. It is plant-based (mainly from rapeseed oil but sometimes other vegetable oils such as sunflower), GMO-free, palm-free and of excellent quality.

Lush purchases flowers (fresh and dried) from multiple suppliers who source them from different countries around the world depending on species, season and availability. They must comply with Lush's buying policy which encourages growers to move away from the use of hazardous pesticides. Periodic, case-by-case spot checks are also performed to detect pesticide residues on the ingredients entering our factories.

With seven manufacturing sites across the globe, this information may vary depending on where your Lush products were made.

What are the benefits of glycerine and sunflower combined?

Filled with oil-rich seeds, sunflowers make a wonderful sight when in bloom. Their big yellow petals can be used fresh or dried to soothe the skin, but they are best known for the natural dye they provide - a weak but cheerful dye!

Glycerine is an excellent carrier for the sunflower petals' properties and colour. It's a versatile humectant that makes the skin soft and supple by attracting moisture and allowing it to sink in. It also helps preserve our products and give them a longer shelf life by limiting the growth of bacteria.
