Blue wax coats the base of solid, naked products. It's a practical way to protect them and offer a better hold.
Though not to everyone’s taste, this wax (also known as specerit) is usually used to coat cheese. It is a mixture of refined hydrocarbon waxes, polymers and blue pigments (E132, E153, E171).
