Broccoli Seed Oil

Ingredient

Broccoli Seed Oil

Brassica olearacea italica

Benefits

Natural

Extracted from the oil-rich seeds of broccoli, this odourless and tasteless oil is loved for its light, but moisturising and rejuvenating feel on the skin.

The broccoli plant is a dark green cabbage from which we eat the flowering heads. Thought to be indigenous to Italy, it's been cultivated and traded in Europe since the 16th century. The seeds are kept to produce a moisturising oil or to be germinated and eaten.

All cruciferous vegetables (Brassica genus), which includes broccoli, cauliflower or Brussels sprouts to name a few, are full of anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidant compounds that help to maintain clean, firm and soothed skin. They are also studied for their potential chemopreventive effect, which means they could help prevent certain cancers, thanks to a group of compounds they contain, called dithioletiones.

This seed oil is produced in Poland, where the seeds are bought from producers in different parts of the country depending on availability.
