Water (and) Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil (Woda Grejpfrutowa)
With a light citrus scent that cheers the mood, grapefruit water clears and cleanses the skin thanks to its antibacterial properties. It is made by dispersing white grapefruit oil in water.
Grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi) is a hybrid between an orange and a pomelo that is native to the Caribbean island of Barbados. There are many varieties with different skin and pulp colours, the best known to consumers being pink and red grapefruits as they have the sweetest taste. Yet, the essential oil is made from white grapefruit; a yellow-coloured variety that is a favourite in the juice and perfume industries.
The oil has mild antiseptic and astringent properties that help mattify and clear the skin while cleansing and giving shine to the hair. Its sweet, citrus aroma is about 90% limonene, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound that is thought to have skin-firming properties.
Finding a good, direct source for this oil has been a challenge over the years as the white grapefruit variety is often overshadowed by food industry trends, influencing the quality and availability of the oil. Luckily, Lush buyers found an essential oil processing company in the USA that can meet our production needs.
