A plant surrounded by lore and legends, mullein is said to ward off nightmares, evil spirits and dark magic but it is, of course, its emollient and antimicrobial properties on the skin that make it of cosmetic interest.
Mullein is a tall herb with large leaves as soft as rabbit ears and a long stem covered with yellow flowers. Native to western Asia and southern Europe, it grows alongside paths and on uncultivated lands.
When infused in hot water, the leaves produce a gel-like texture called mucilage, which makes the water a bit thicker. Once strained to remove leaf bits, the mixture is added to the product blend to benefit from its soothing, softening and cleansing effects.
