The cinnamon shrub is native to Sri Lanka. It is mostly farmed for its bark which is stripped away and left to dry out into copper-coloured curls. The resulting spicy sticks are cherished for their comforting aroma and stimulating properties on the skin and blood flow.

Also stimulating, ginseng has been used as a tonic for the body and mind for centuries in Chinese medicine. Panax ginseng is one of the many varieties of ginseng growing in the world. Although it is a trailing ground cover plant producing small red fruits, it is cultivated for its valuable roots.
