Ribes Rubrum

Sauces, chutney, gravy… redcurrants are a traditional part of seasonal celebrations. The redcurrant (Ribes rubrum) has a sweet, juicy fragrance with a hint of tartness that adds a tangy fruity scent to soaps. It also has antioxidant properties, helping promote beautiful, healthy skin.

The glossy red berries that are added to our products grow low on the deciduous redcurrant shrub, hanging from branches in rows. The redcurrant itself is a member of the genus Ribes in the gooseberry family and is native across western, northern and central Europe as well as northern Asia.
