Elettaria cardamomum (also known as green or true cardamom) is a perennial plant, part of the ginger family. Its flowers are pale yellow with mauve tips. The greens pods of the plant are hand-harvested between September and April and contain up to 20 tiny and fragrant black seeds.
We use this absolute to fragrance products. Cardamom is well known as a spice or essential oil, but the absolute is usually reserved for connoisseurs. It has similar eucalyptus nuances but is much warmer, sweeter and woodier, with ginger and tea notes.
