How to use:&nbsp;Grab a clean cloth and apply a few drops of the apparel oil. Gently massage the oil onto your vegan leather jacket, paying special attention to the collar and shoulders. For a stronger scent, apply just before leaving the house, or for something more subtle, use a few hours before. Reapply as needed.

How to store:&nbsp;Keep somewhere cool and dry between uses.

Spicy, sweet-scented cloves add warmth to perfumes and stimulate the blood flow.&nbsp;

Cloves are the dried aromatic flower buds of a tropical evergreen tree of the Myrtle family. When drying, the buds change colour from rose to brown. They can then be sold raw or put through a process of steam distillation to obtain an essential oil with a warm, rich and spicy aroma.

Cloves are used in herbal medicine. They were first mentioned in Chinese medicine in about AD600. Particularly known for their soothing effect on toothaches, it is said that the ancient Chinese also used to hold a clove in the mouth to perfume their breath when speaking to the emperor.

At Lush, we buy an oil distilled from clove buds and one obtained from the plant's leaves. Depending on the part used, the scent will be subtly different. We also use a lot of dried cloves, especially for our exclusive winter festive products. Each of these materials will be purchased from another source. The tall camaru tree (Dipteryx odorata) belongs to the legume family (Fabaceae) and grows in Costa Rica, Brazil and Peru. It bears fruits that contain a single seed, oblong and smooth, called the tonka bean. The bean is used as a spice, grated into culinary preparations such as desserts to give them a sweet, complex taste. It can also be subjected to a solvent extraction process to obtain an absolute: a thick, concentrated extract of the bean’s scent.

Some say that tonka smells of vanilla, but the bean has its own perfume. It is sweet but also fruity, reminiscent of cherries and bitter almonds, and has notes of hay. This complex scent is mainly due to coumarin, an aromatic compound that naturally occurs in tonka in such quantities that it creates a white crystallised coating around the bean when it dries.

The tonka beans we purchase are wild harvested by indigenous and local communities in the Amazon forest, helping provide livelihoods for those who are protecting one of the richest ecosystems in the world. Through these partnerships, we ensure quality products, empowerment and economic support.

Among these communities are <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXcV7lxTam4">the Kayapo people of Brazil</a>, who carefully collect fallen tonka fruits and manually crack each one open with hammers to extract the valuable beans. The beans are then sun-dried and gathered in large sacks before being transported to France, where they are refined into an absolute for use in our products.

Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) is a good friend to your skin and scalp!

Jojoba oil is obtained by pressing the seeds of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinensis). The plant is native to the Sonoran Desert in Northwest Mexico and Southwest USA, and its deep root system and leathery leaves make it well suited to droughts and intense heat. It can also be cultivated in areas suffering from soil erosion to help improve soil quality.
