Persian lime oil spreads its sharp, energising and zesty scent across various ranges of Lush products. From the top of your hair to your mouth and the tips of your toes, its antimicrobial and exfoliating properties keep things clear and healthy.

Persian limes grow on a hybrid variety of Citrus aurantifolia trees called latifolia. They have a much thicker rind than conventional key lime and are cultivated mainly in Brazil and Mexico. They got their name from a popular belief that the fruits were brought to Europe by Persian travelers.

Limes (and their oil) contain citric acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that provides gentle exfoliation and thus cleanses the skin of dead skin cells, leaving it radiant and smooth. This acidity also gives a lot of shine to the hair as it flattens their cuticles which, as a result, reflect light better.

Lush purchase Persian lime oil from a Mexican producer. Peels are cold-pressed to obtain a mixture of oil and water, which then goes through a centrifuge to separate the water from the essential oil.
