Pelargonium graveolens is different to the popular window-box geranium, though it is part of the same big family of Geraniaceae. It is a leafy shrub native to South Africa that bears small pink flowers. It is commonly called rose geranium or sweet-scented geranium in reference to the strong floral scent diffused by its incised and velvety, fragrant leaves.

Lush source this particular geranium oil from the Kenyan highlands. Our supplier has established a small-scale project with 1,200 farmers who sustainably grow the highly aromatic Bourbon geranium variety in the foothills of Mount Kenya. The growing conditions in this area produce three harvests a year. The oil is steam distilled, without the use of chemicals, from the flowers and the highly aromatic leaves of the plant.
