Some like it hot and some like it blonde. Just 20 minutes with this sassy, brightening, blondifying treatment will accentuate all your natural assets. Chamomile helps to naturally lighten the hair, while shine-enhancing organic lemon juice encourages the cuticle to lie flat and reflect more light.

Don’t be shy: whether you’re angelically fair, strawberry gold, pearly grey or a bottle somewhere in between, this luxurious treatment will deliver plenty of dazzle.

How to use: Apply generously on dry hair until the hair is fully soaked. In most cases this is a full 225g pot. Leave for at least 20 minutes, to allow the ingredients to get to work, moisturizing and strengthening your crowning glory. You should notice over time your hair soaking up the excess product! After rinsing out the excess product, shampoo and condition as normal.&nbsp;

Humble flowers with super soothing powers.

There are many species of chamomile flowers, and they’re sometimes hard to differentiate from one another - even experts struggle! At Lush, we use two types, easily identifiable and well known in European folk medicine: the German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla syn. Matricaria recutita) which resembles a daisy, and the Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) that looks like a fuzzy ball of white petals.&nbsp;

Originally white in colour, the German chamomile flowers release a blue pigment when distilled into an essential oil. This is due to&nbsp; an anti-inflammatory compound that forms during steam distillation, called chamazulene. Hence the name: chamomile blue oil.

The flowers’ oils are believed to promote calm and restful sleep when inhaled. They’re often coupled with lavender as they share similar properties and complement each other scents.

Chamomile crops are so fragile that Lush buyers always need to have backup suppliers in case our current ones are unable to produce the amount we need. Oh, we all know what lemon is, surely!? Okay, for those of you who don’t, it’s a fruit that grows on a small, slightly thorny, evergreen tree that belongs to the Rutaceae family. The lemon tree typically grows in Italy, Asia and East India, and produces highly fragrant blossoms and shiny leaves as well as this bright yellow, oval-shaped citrus treat.&nbsp;

Since 2005, Lush has sourced bergamot, lemon and mandarin essential oils directly from a family business that have been producing citrus oils for three generations. While the lemons and mandarins thrive under the sun of Sicily, the bergamot fruits are grown in Reggio Calabria, Southern Italy. Grown without pesticides, the lemons are collected by hand and pressed entirely with their peel. The resulting liquid then goes through a centrifugal process that separates the oil from the juice.&nbsp;

The European olive tree (Olea europaea) has thrived for millennia under the hot sun of the Mediterranean basin. It grows the famous small, green fruit known as olive, prized for its taste and richness in oil. Olive trees are slow-growing and can have a very long lifespan. What are the benefits of olive oil for the skin and hair?

The oil’s lightweight feel is due to its <a href="https://www.lush.com/uk/en/i/squalane">squalene</a> content, a compound that can also be found in human sebum. ‘Accepted’ well by the skin, it allows the oil to help restore a healthy level of moisture.

Olive oil contains some of the most potent antioxidants in the world, namely vitamin E, hydroxytyrosol (a plant polyphenol) and oleic acid. These compounds are thought to help the skin cells fight against the oxidising action of free radicals. This means that they could help the skin stay firm and healthy for longer. Besides, olives, olive leaves, and olive oil have shown very promising anti-tumour action and protection against cancer when used at a certain level and in specific conditions.

At Lush, we use a lot of moisturising olive oil, but we also purchase the lesser-known olive leaf absolute to complement some of our perfumes. Extracted by solvent from the green-grey leaves of the tree, it has a refreshing herbal scent with a hint of fruity aroma and bitterness.
