The Ancient Egyptians believed lettuce was an aphrodisiac, while the Ancient Romans ate it pre-bedtime to help them feel sleepy. We wouldn’t want to comment on its effectiveness in those areas, but we do know that fresh lettuce is approximately 95% water, making it great for keeping our cells hydrated.
