The pear, with its familiar and elegant shape, is loaded with vitamins and alkaline elements. Dried and crushed, it becomes a powder that rehydrates in water and gently cleanses the skin.

There are more than five thousand varieties of pears around the world. It is one of the rare fruits that is better when it is picked unripe because if it stays on the tree, it can develop very hard stony cells in its flesh, whereas its pulp will stay soft if it is harvested at the right time.

Pears are very similar to apples and enjoy the same reputation for their good health benefits, but contain even more pectin; a thickening compound that is thought to promote cell regeneration.
