Delphinium consolida

Popular with pollinators and florists alike, in the language of flowers, delphiniums symbolise joy and remembrance.  Pink delphiniums, in particular, are associated with new life, protection, and affection - maybe that’s why they’re one of Mum’s favourites. 

Delphiniums get their name from the Greek ‘delphis’, meaning dolphin, because of the resemblance its buds bear to dolphin noses. A member of the Ranunculaceae botanical family, delphiniums are related to the humble buttercup, but grow much taller with long spike-like stems lined with vibrant flowers.
