Immersed in hot water, cantaloupe melons infuse their sweet, fruity fragrance.
Where do we get these fresh melons?
Nearly all of our fresh fruit and vegetables are purchased from the same specialist distributor, whom Lush UK has been working with since 2005. Depending on the time of year, they source products from different countries to try and have availability all year round. They work hard to supply as much organic product as possible and provide the highest quality available the rest of the time.
With seven manufacturing sites across the globe, this information may vary depending on where your Lush products were made.
What are the benefits for you?
- The mouth-watering sweet scent of cantaloupe is uplifting and reminiscent of summer holidays.
- The melon’s orange pulp contains beta carotene, an antioxidant that gives radiance to the skin.
Cantaloupes are members of the large gourd family (Cucurbitaceae) which includes squashes, pumpkins and cucumbers among others. The melon grows in tropical and warm temperate climates, and although its origin remains unknown, it is established that it was introduced to Europe at the end of the 17th century. Beloved by pope Paul II, it was cultivated especially for him around the town of Cantalupo di Sabina, Italy - hence the name cantaloupe.
