Where there's garlic and grapes, a deep cleansing is in order (or a Roman feast!). Mixed with glycerine, they certainly form one superpowered skincare ingredient.

Where do we get it?

The glycerine purchased from our English and German manufacturing sites can come from different European suppliers, depending on availability. It is plant-based (mainly from rapeseed oil but sometimes other vegetable oils such as sunflower), GMO-free, palm-free and of excellent quality.

Nearly all of our fresh fruit and vegetables are purchased from the same specialist distributor, whom Lush UK has been working with since 2005. Depending on the time of year, they source products from different countries to try and have availability all year round. They work hard to supply as many organic products as possible and provide the highest quality available the rest of the time.

With seven manufacturing sites across the globe, this information may vary depending on where your Lush products were made.

What are the benefits of this blend of ingredients?

The benefits of glycerine are not endless but almost, so it’s worth taking a look at its dedicated page. In the present blend, it serves as a carrier for the grapes and garlic, as a humectant that hydrates the skin and makes it soft and supple, and as a preservative.

Garlic and grapes complement each other really well when it comes to cleansing the skin thoroughly and keeping acne at bay. Garlic is one of the world's oldest medicines. It is rich in allicin, which helps clear the skin of spots and alleviate swelling; sulphur, which soothes skin conditions; and iodine, which prevents infections. Grape juice contains malic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that helps restore moisture, exfoliates the skin’s top layers and aids the absorption of other ingredients.
