Quinine

Quinine is an alkaloid that can be obtained from the bark of the Cinchona plant: a large, fruit-bearing, evergreen shrub.

Used for its slightly bitter flavour, quinine is the flavour component of tonic water and leaves a refreshing taste in the mouth.
