Brown sugar originates from sugar beets or sugar canes. It is not refined or not entirely and therefore contains a lot of molasses, giving it its colour and delicious caramel and vanilla aromas. Sometimes it is also made out of a mix of white granulated sugar with molasses from sugar canes.
