So soft, so soothing. Linseeds are a Lush favourite, and you can find them in a lot of our products!

Where do we get them?

For our UK production, golden linseeds are purchased from a British grower in the beautiful West Sussex county.

With seven manufacturing sites across the globe, this information may vary depending on where your Lush products were made.

What is a decoction?

Decoctions are made in-house at Lush by boiling raw materials in water until half of the water evaporates. Some seeds, such as flax (another name for linseed), produce mucilage when simmered in hot water. Mucilage is a soothing, slimy substance that is made even thicker and more concentrated by the decoction method.

What are the benefits for the skin and hair?

Unique stories

The Linum usitatissimum is a herb with a tall, leafy stem and pale blue flowers. Its fibres, called bast fibres, have been used to make fabrics and clothes for thousands of years. The edible seeds of the plant are also sought after. Tear-shaped, brown or yellowish, they can be eaten raw or pressed for oil.
