Paprikabalsem (Capsicum annuum)
Paprika oleoresin colours products with bright red or orange hues, the colour depending on its concentration.
The red powder is extracted from dried and ground red peppers. The compounds responsible for colouring peppers are carotenoids, such as capsanthin and capsorubin.
Carotenoids are also powerful antioxidants made by plants to prevent premature breakdowns of their cells caused by exposure to atmospheric agents like air, heat, and sunlight. Applied topically, they are thought to protect skin as well, keeping it toned, supple and radiant.
