Xylitol

Not just a sweetener, xylitol is also antibacterial and limits the growth of acid-producing bacteria present in the mouth. It is, therefore, a useful compound in oral care that helps prevent tooth decay and plaque, while encouraging the remineralisation of enamel.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in strawberries, pumpkins and plums. Derived from sugar for commercial production, it is similarly sweet and can be found in many foods and drinks.
