About this event
Join Lush and the Endangered Species Foundation for a special evening dedicated to one of Aotearoa's most precious taonga species, the critically endangered Māui dolphin.
With fewer than 50 Māui dolphins remaining, this is an opportunity to learn more about the challenges they face, hear directly from those working to protect them, and discover how we can all play a role in securing their future.
Hear from our speakers
Guests will be welcomed by Endangered Species Foundation Trustee Tāwera Nikau and General Manager Natalie Jessup.
We'll also be joined by members of the Āpiti whānau from Kāwhia on the west coast of Aotearoa, who have been advocating for the protection of the Māui dolphin for decades. They will share:
- What it means to be kaitiaki (guardians) of the endangered Māui dolphin
- Why Māui dolphins are an important taonga (treasure) to Ngāti Te Wehi
- The biggest threats facing the species today
- What needs to happen to protect and restore Māui dolphin populations
- How individuals and communities can help create change
Your ticket includes:
- Māui-inspired mocktails
- Delicious vegetarian nibbles
An exclusive Lush experience, learn insights into the values and activism that drive our work
The opportunity to purchase a limited-edition Māui Dolphin Soap, with proceeds supporting Māui dolphin conservation
The chance to sign the petition calling for an end to bottom trawling within Māui dolphin habitat
By attending, you'll not only learn about one of the world's rarest marine mammals, you'll also be directly supporting the work being done to protect it. Every ticket sold contributes to the Endangered Species Foundation's efforts to safeguard endangered species and the ecosystems they depend on.
Together, we can help ensure the world's smallest and rarest marine dolphin has a future in the waters of Aotearoa.
