Porphyra umbilicalis

Benefits

Natural

Laver is a common seaweed found along the Irish and Welsh coastlines, where it has a long history as a nutritious delicacy.

Laver is a variety of seaweed related to Japanese nori; however, Porphyra umbilicalis, also known as wild Atlantic Nori, is found in the North Atlantic Ocean. Laver seaweed is classified as a red algae, and grows in delicate sheets only one cell thick that look a little like thin plastic bags when found washed up on shore draped across rocks. No plastic here though, only a soothing sheet of sea vegetation!
