Lush supports the launch of Dexter’s Arc
Lush’s cult favourite Dragon’s Egg bath bomb is going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month, launching online from 23rd September and in all Lush UK&I stores from 24th September 2022.
This September, it’s with heavy hearts that Lush UK&I is going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month. This year the Constantine family (the co-founders of Lush) lost seven-year-old Dexter Constantine-Tatchell, their Master of Dragons. He fought fiercely against Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer that lacks awareness as well as a lack of funding for research and treatment.
“Jack and I are heartbroken at the loss of our sweet Dexter. He will forever be in our thoughts and we will forever miss him. We are so grateful to Lush and all the staff that have organised ‘Dexter's Dragon Egg’ to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness month. We have felt immense support from Lush and Alice’s Arc in providing our family the platform to tell Dexter's story and raise awareness about Rhabdomyosarcoma since his passing.”
To honour Dexter and children like him, Lush is supporting the launch of Dexter’s Arc, a fundraising platform created with the support of Alice’s Arc, a registered charity in England and Wales with charity number 1164253. Funds raised through Dexter’s Arc will go towards non-animal testing research into Rhabdomyosarcoma.
A limited edition adaption of the best-selling Dragon’s Egg bath bomb, ‘Dexter’s Dragon Egg’ will be sold online from 23rd September and in all Lush UK&I stores from 24th September 2022 and 100% of sales (minus VAT) will be going to Dexter’s Arc, with the hope that £150k will be raised specifically for the purpose of non-animal tested research into Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Dexter, Alice and so many children have lost their lives and futures needlessly because the treatments weren’t available. We will forever treasure them; the golden souls who made lasting impacts in their short lives.
“We are so grateful to Lush and Dexter's family for creating this campaign in support of the launch of Dexter's Arc, following Dexter's tragic passing in July this year. This collaboration provides a significant platform to amplify awareness of childhood cancer and to raise funds through the sale of Dexter's specially devised, gold dragon egg bath bomb. We look forward to a long-lasting collaboration.
Dexter's Arc is the 16th Arc created in connection with Alice's Arc. It is a place for his family and community to tell his story, to fundraise in his name and to advocate for change. Childhood cancer can happen to anyone and we are all united in our mission to change the story for those diagnosed in the future. By working together, we are stronger.” - Sara Wakeling, Co-Founder Alice's Arc.
About Alice’s Arc
Alice’s Arc is dedicated to finding a cure and kinder, more targeted treatments for those affected by the childhood cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma.
The children and families impacted by Rhabdomyosarcoma are at the heart of our mission and we work closely together to help achieve our goals. We have created a network of families and provide individual Arcs in honour of the children or young people’s journeys with Rhabdomyosarcoma. These platforms have multiple purposes and are individually tailored to enable families to tell their story, fundraise, advocate and demonstrate the impact they are making.
In addition, we aim to be a major source of support to families, from diagnosis, treatment, post-treatment, relapse, palliative care to loss and survivorship. We deliver this via our family well-being service and Arc’s family support groups.
Effective collaboration is critical in achieving change. Through our strong relationships with major research institutions, hospitals, clinicians and families, we present a global Rhabdomyosarcoma voice advocating for change and a future where this disease can be cured safely, using new and cutting-edge treatments.
Alice’s Arc has no paid employees and very low overheads. So, whatever you can give or pledge, you know it will make a difference to a child with cancer.

About Dexter’s Arc
We want to contribute to helping Alice's Arc by raising funds focused on non-animal tested research, to help families that face this unthinkable diagnosis in the future and hope that one day, better, less brutal treatments will be available, with a real chance of saving lives.

Fighting Animal Testing
Lush has been fighting against animal testing since before Lush opened their first shop, and the fight continues today. Animal testing is poor science and its results are irrelevant to humans.
Instead, Lush tests its products for safety and effectiveness on human volunteers – real people. Lush also use in vitro test methods, using human cell cultures and microbiology.
Lush does not test on animals, does not use materials that contain animal derivatives that are unsuitable for vegetarians and only buys raw materials from companies that are not involved in the use of, or commission the use of, animals for testing and has no plans to do so in the future. Lush believes that animal testing is not acceptable. Lush recognises that customer safety is of importance but that this can be assured without the use of animals.
