About Maddie Morris BBC Young Folk Award winner Maddie Morris is a hopeful and generous storyteller, an artist who strives to make a difference in the world. Folk songs have always told stories, but how Maddie makes their mark is by turning this storytelling into action. With a particular focus on LGBTQ+ and disability rights, they use their work to highlight inequality, challenge viewpoints and provide an inclusive space for shared experiences. Described by Jim Moray as “leading the next generation of socially conscious songwriters”, their work explores personal narratives and political storytelling, blending English folk traditions with their lived experience as a trans, autistic person.
