Benefits

Natural

Rose (Rosa centifolia) is a flowering plant belonging to the Rosaceae family, commonly known as the 'cabbage rose' due to its rounded shape and high volume of petals. While believed to be native to Europe and Asia, it is now widely cultivated. We use rose in our products for its soothing effect on the skin, and beautiful floral fragrance. The rose petals infuse the water with fragrance, and rehydrates as if they have been freshly plucked from your garden.

While we have sourced the Damask rose from a co-operative in Turkey since 2005, we obtain the red rose petals from Pakistan and the yellow rose petals separately from a fairly trading Kenyan company which grows roses for the floristry industry.

We wanted to utilise flowers which were not fit for their intended purpose, such as those which had broken stems, and so minimise waste. When we suggested this, the company pointed us in the direction of a local Masai women's group who they knew would benefit from the work of plucking, drying and packing the petals. Sourcing these petals which would otherwise go to waste allows civilians to build business in local communities and receive a fair price for their employment. Our customers also benefit from enjoying the rich and colourful Kenyan rose petals in their bath.
