Benefits

Natural

Hibiscus flowers can be used as a natural dye thanks to the captivating red/pink hue they add to cosmetics, food and textiles.

You might recognise hibiscus flowers as the eye-catching bloom widely pictured on surfers’ shirts. The flowers themselves come in a variety of colours, with a crimson calyx (the fleshy outermost part of the flower that surrounds the petals). There are many varieties of hibiscus, but the best known is Hibiscus sabdariffa, which can be consumed whole and adds a tart, fruity flavour to beverages, sweet treats and more. When ingested, hibiscus is thought to have lots of beneficial effects.
