Ingredient

Kenyan Geranium Oil

Pelargonium graveolens

Benefits

Natural

A floral wonder, geranium oil adds a sweet, rose-like aroma that lifts the mood and relieves anxiety. The oil is toning, antiseptic and astringent, which helps clear and mattify the skin while balancing sebum production.

Pelargonium graveolens isn’t the popular window-box geranium, but is part of the same big family of Geraniaceae. It is a leafy shrub native to South Africa, which grows small flowers of pink colour. It is commonly called rose geranium or sweet-scented geranium in reference to the strong floral scent diffused by its incised and velvety, fragrant leaves.

Rose and geranium oils have very similar aromatic profiles as they both contain geraniol and citronellol - and have several other chemical constituents in common depending on the variety. This is why they are often used together, enhancing and supporting each other's scent.

This geranium oil is sourced from Kenya. It is distilled from a very aromatic species of geranium known as Bourbon which is grown sustainably, without the use of chemicals. Learn more about the farmers here.
