Ho wood oil is steam distilled from the leaves and branches of the camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora). The main constituent of ho wood is linalool, which gives the oil floral and citrusy notes.

Because rosewood is now an endangered species around the world, ho wood is often used as an alternative to it in perfumery, thanks to its similar scent.
