Cinnamon Bark Infusion

Ingredient

Cinnamon Bark Infusion

Cinnamomum zeylanicum

Benefits

Natural

Obtained by soaking cinnamon barks in boiled water, this infusion has a warming effect on the skin when applied topically. Cinnamon helps stimulate blood circulation and energise tired muscles.

Native to India and Sri Lanka, this ancient spice comes from the inner bark of a tropical, evergreen species of the laurel family.

One of the rarest and most expensive items in the spice trade, it was favoured by ancient Egyptians for embalming and to preserve food because of its powerful antimicrobial properties. These properties still make it a popular ingredient in oral hygiene products today, including toothpaste and mouthwash.

The flavour of cinnamon, warm and slightly sweet, is appreciated in pastries, hot drinks and curries. It has also been proven that the sensual scent of the spice and its invigorating and stimulating effect on the body made it a good aphrodisiac.
