Ethyl Macadamiate

Ingredient

Ethyl Macadamiate

Benefits

Natural

Often used as an alternative to silicones, ethyl macadamiate coats the hair and adds protection from heat and humidity threats, without weighing it down.

Macadamia ternifolia is a tropical evergreen tree native to the coastal rainforests of Australia. The trees produce an abundance of fragrant white or pale pink, flowers, each of which may mature into up to twenty fruits. When mature, the leathery outer shell splits, freeing the hard-shelled, rounded nut.

Macadamia nuts are made of approximately 70% of oils, giving them a creamy, buttery texture. It is precisely the fatty acids from these oils (mainly oleic and palmitoleic acids) that is mixed with an ester of ethyl alcohol to create ethyl macadamiate.
