Native to Africa, India and America’s southern states, the acacia is a small, thorny tree that can grow up to 40 feet tall. When a tree is damaged, it triggers a protective mechanism called ‘gummosis’, secreting a gum through the wound.
Acacia gum is an emulsifier that allows oil and water-based ingredients to mix. It's also a natural film-forming agent which means it stays on the surface of skin and hair to coat, condition and protect. It's water-soluble and soothing for the skin.
