Body Scrub
We’re serving up a pot of invigorating, spiced milky goodness to fill your showers with Día de Muertos nostalgia. Some like it hot, but we take our horchata with plenty of scrubby bamboo and tagua nut, ground white rice, hydrating oils — finished with a drizzle of vanilla and cinnamon. We’ll scrub to that!
Co-Create is a product creation programme for Lush staff, aiming to promote diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging by lifting up authentic stories from respective communities. Co-Creator Cena Miller shares their inspiration for this Día de Muertos product:
“Horchata is a beloved drink with roots tracing back to ancient North Africa, where beverages were made from soaked tiger nuts. The recipe later spread to Spain and eventually travelled to Latin America during Spanish colonisation, evolving into the rice-based version many people know today."
"Now it is enjoyed as both a refreshing drink, and a symbol of cultural heritage in many Hispanic communities, often served during family gatherings, festivals, or even as an everyday treat. This Día de Muertos I wanted to share a culturally significant symbol of a common Mexican joy with the hearts (and on the bodies!) of Lushies around the world.”
What's in it for you?

- Bamboo stem and tagua nut powder: creates a fine scrub to polish your skin.
- Ground white rice and rice milk: adds some extra scrub and hydration, inspired by horchata recipes and how Cena’s mum makes the drink.
- Vanilla, cinnamon and lemon myrtle: creates a sweet and warm fragrance with a bright citrus lift.
Leaving the world Lusher than we found it
We source vanilla beans directly from producers in Uganda and Tanzania, working with partners who prioritise smallholder farmer livelihoods.
Made with spicy cinnamon grown under Fair Trade, organic conditions in Sri Lanka.
Tagua powder is made by grinding down waste nuts and is 100% biodegradable. The local community is involved at every stage of processing, making it truly regenerative, environmentally, socially and economically.
