Egenskaper

Natural

We use agar agar (Gelidium cartilagineum) to soften and moisturise skin and hair. This gel-like solution made from a species of seaweed known as agarophytes is incredibly nutrient rich, and its jelly-like consistency means it helps to thicken and hold other ingredients in our products.

Agarophytes, which have a tufted appearance from their fine fronds, are found in the seas of Japan, the Mediterranean, Europe, America and Africa. Their colours vary from pinks to deep reds and purples, camouflaging their chlorophyll. To make agar agar, the seaweeds are collected and laid out on a beach, bleached and dried. The seaweed is boiled in water and filtered to create a jelly; this then dried in the sunlight and prepared into bars, flakes or fine granules.
