Indigenous to the Mediterranean and Western Asia, the plant has been cultivated for thousands of years. In the past, fenugreek was commonly used as a herb for its medicinal properties, particularly within Chinese and Egyptian medicines, today it is frequently used as a spice in Indian cuisine.

Fenugreek absolute is obtained through extraction from the seeds of the plant.
